James Madison University

About us

The International Study Center (ISC) is based in the northeastern part of the beautiful University campus. It sits alongside other University departments and American students, so you'll feel part of the University community from your first day. As soon as you arrive at the ISC, staff are available to support and guide you through university life.

JMU has strong academic programs with an emphasis on collaboration, group work, and great teaching. It also provides great value when compared to schools of equal rank.

A selective admissions process means that JMU students are among the best in the world. Classes have a 16:1 student to professor ratio, giving you a more interaction as you study. With over 122 degree programs to choose from, you are sure to find the right path towards your career goals. With a JMU degree, 86% of students are able to find a job within 6 months of graduation.

The university’s business program is frequently ranked as one of the top business schools in the USA. Students who get a business degree from JMU are more than ready for the challenges of a global business career.

Life on campus

JMU students are typically friendly and approachable, and are extremely welcoming to students from overseas. Cheering for the university’s athletic teams (know as the Dukes) is one of many popular social activities, and JMU students “bleed purple” with school spirit. The university also has over 350 student clubs and organizations, which should be more than enough to help you fill your study breaks.

JMU’s lovely campus is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It boasts a large 'quad', or common area, as well as a planetarium. The town is surrounded on all sides by wooded mountains where you can hike and explore.

James Madison University will give you a great education and let you make lots of new friends from all over the world. It really is the perfect place to get a well-rounded American college experience.
